Flying Sites

Kobala takeoff, perched 1052 meters above the picturesque Soča Valley, is a highly versatile launch site accommodating both easterly and westerly wind directions. Typically, we take off around noon to ensure the southerly slopes are fully heated, generating optimal thermals. This timing provides the perfect conditions for exhilarating out-and-return flights of up to 100 km. The valley has plenty of landing options.

Typical Routes

A typical route encompasses a 50–100 km out-and-return flight, taking advantage of the numerous south-facing ridges in the area. These ridges provide ideal conditions for thermal generation and ridge lift, allowing pilots to refine their skills in efficient and fast cross-country flying. The route is carefully designed to challenge participants while ensuring safety and maximizing airtime, offering a rewarding experience for both developing and experienced XC pilots.
